About La Collina

La Collina Restaurant is one of those spots you end up recommending to friends the moment you leave, mainly because it blends the relaxed feel of a coffee shop with the polish of a neighborhood favorite. Tucked inside Canada House, Manchester M1 5FW, United Kingdom, La Collina feels easy to drop into whether you are passing through the city or deliberately carving out time to slow down. I usually describe it as a place where conversations flow as easily as the coffee, and that really sets the tone from the first step inside. The atmosphere is calm but not quiet, casual without feeling careless, making it equally comfortable for solo visits, quick meetups, or longer catch-ups that stretch into the afternoon. What I like most is how flexible the experience feels. You can sit in and enjoy a proper dine-in moment, grab a takeaway on a busy day, or even opt for delivery when leaving the house feels like too much effort. The menu reflects that same laid-back versatility. Coffee is clearly a highlight, but it sits confidently alongside cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits, so the space naturally shifts from daytime coffee shop energy to a relaxed evening hangout. There are healthy options that do not feel like an afterthought, quick bites that actually satisfy, and thoughtful vegan and vegetarian choices that make everyone feel included. Free water refills are a small detail, yet they quietly reinforce the welcoming, no-pressure vibe. Alcohol is available, but it never overshadows the coffee-first identity, which keeps the place approachable at any hour. When I introduce La Collina to someone new, I usually emphasize how it fits into your day instead of demanding you plan around it, and that easygoing balance is exactly what makes it memorable. It is the kind of place where regulars and first-timers blend together naturally, and the friendly service helps the room feel familiar almost instantly.

I had just discovered La Collina, hiding inside a building, you enter this lovely spot. Large tables that allow you to work with your laptop, and more importandly, lovely food and attentive staff. The manager was around and he was so lovely, accessible and attentive to my requests. He seemed to be passionate about running the place. I ordered the meat sandwich and the cheese sandwich. Both were incredible. Sourdough bread, mustard, carmalised onions. Top stuff. Lets support this type of businesses, local, indpendant coffeeshops that make decent food at a decent price-point, alongside great coffees.

Gorgeous cafe on the edge of the furthest edge of the Northern Quarter. Wooden floored with comfy window stools to sit on and just watch the world go by. Coffee and Cannoli... mmmmm. The Sicilian Ricotta was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and the Hazlenut Chocolate was gorgeous. "Ah, but have you not tried the CHOCOLATE?" asked all of the staff as I left. "Honestly, that's the BEST. They're all good but that is just awesome." Did I mention friendly and seriously enthusiastic staff? Well, I had no choice but to take an evidence-based approach and try it. It's... Really, Really Good, but it isn't ricotta. A new favourite. PS The mushrooms on toast are fabulous. PPS Did I ever mention the Ricotta Cannoli?

I was attended last friday by a redhead girl. The capuccino was quite big and the cannolo was super good. Average price, I think it was 4,20£ in total. As a lovely last point, the payment terminal wasn't working and the girl was looking nervous due to the situation (even tho I absolutely didn't care and I had no hurries). Lovely personal and fantastic service.

Now we’re talking. La Collina was a treat - they have a short, simple home-made lunch menu. I had gnocchi with Bolognaise sauce. Perfect portion size. Coffee was delicious and forced myself to have a pistachio cannoli alongside it. Matt the chef is a focused on flavour and dishes with a twist - you can taste it. Nice space to work from too. Back soon. BACK AGAIN: La Collina is a hidden gem. The menu is developing from daytime only into an evening offering too. Matt, the creator and chef is passionate about the menu. New menu dropping in mid August. Go there.

Accidental find for us but was so pleased with ourselves for trying this place. Looking at the menu, we thought that we didn't really have much to choose from that we might like but we were surprised at how amazing our food was! My beef ragu tagliatelle was delicious and had really big chunks of soft tender shredded beef (not like small bits that melts and disappear into the sauce). My husband had the Piquillo peppers with ricotta and balsamic glaze foccacia which was bloody gorgeous as well that we had to share both dishes between the two of us. Cappuccino had a deep roast flavour that we like. We'd love to go back again! xx
